The ability to generate a full set of construction documents from start to finish for a contractor pricing set and the ability to fulfill submittal requirements for a managing agent or building architect prior to DOB review has become my greatest strength in producing well at an architectural firm. This highly reflects my most recent experience with R. Morgan Rolontz Architecture in Manhattan. The type of position I am seeking is Architectural Project Designer, one tier below Project Management. Experience Level: Mid-Level Years of Experience: 10 years excluding a few years on the non-traditional path.
NEW YORK: Summer 2021 to Present
04.2022: Started full time as an Architectural Project Designer at R. Morgan Rolontz Architecture in downtown Manhattan, Midtown, in office.
08.2021: Joined AIA NY
10.2021: Started remote, short term contract work on Bid sets, CDs, Building Management Sets, DOB submittals, and Kitchen/Bath/Equipment/Appliance/ Fixture Schedules, Specifications with local vendors/suppliers/manufacturers/ showrooms on residential projects, locally in Manhattan, NY.
02.2022: Started remote, short term contract work on historic preservation projects and interior retrofitting. Worked on a NYC Landmarks Preservation Commission submittal for a religious institution in Brooklyn, including exterior material research, sourcing, image presentation of existing conditions, and roof studies. Additionally, did a field walk thru and project documentation on a governmental Consulate on the Upper East.
“Becoming an architect is a lifelong process.” words spoken true of my history professor, a noted architectural historian from freshman year at The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Despite global changes happening, I believe that perseverance is so important in staying intact with the profession.
Please allow me to share with readers an ongoing, perpetual documentary since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
